Manila, July 25, 2023 – The Philippine Aquatics family is filled with pride and excitement as the Executive Committee announces the qualification of several outstanding swimmers to represent the nation in the upcoming 9th World Junior Aquatics Junior Swimming Championship in Netanya, Israel. The championship will take place from September 4 to 9, 2023. The qualifying swimmers have met the minimum 680 World Aquatics points standard set by the Executive Committee during the qualifying period, which was from May 1, 2022, until July 30, 2023.
Leading the contingent of talented female swimmers is Teia Salvino, who has demonstrated exceptional prowess in various events. Salvino has qualified for the 50-meter backstroke, 100-meter backstroke, 50-meter freestyle, 100-meter freestyle, 200-meter freestyle, and 100-meter butterfly events. Her remarkable performances earned her 809 World Aquatic points in both the 50-meter backstroke and 100-meter backstroke, making her a formidable force to watch out for in the competition.
Joining Salvino is Jasmine Mojdeh, who has shown her mettle in the 100-meter butterfly event, earning 691 World Aquatics points.
Additionally, Heather White will also represent the Philippines in the 50-meter freestyle, 100-meter freestyle, and 200-meter freestyle events with 686, 683, and 685 World Aquatics points, respectively.
On the male side, Gian Santos has exhibited outstanding skills, qualifying for the 200-meter freestyle, 400-meter freestyle, and 100-meter freestyle events with 720, 719, and 707 World Aquatics points, respectively. Furthermore, Alexander Eichler secured a place in the championship by achieving 718 and 716 World Aquatics points in the 200-meter butterfly and 100-meter butterfly events, respectively.
The Philippine Aquatics family is grateful for the unwavering support received from the Philippine Sports Commission, the Philippine Olympic Committee, and the World Aquatics. Their backing has been instrumental in helping the swimmers reach their potential and achieve their dreams on the international stage.
To all the qualified swimmers, the Executive Committee has requested that they submit the necessary documents to philippineaquatics@gmail.com before the deadline of July 30, 2023, 5:00 PM Manila time. The documents include a copy of the passport details page and any other events they wish to be considered for, in addition to the events they have already qualified for.
Furthermore, the Philippine Aquatics will take care of the airfare for the team’s travel between Manila and Israel, as well as their accommodation in Israel. The swimmers will also be provided with team uniforms for the duration of the championship.
This momentous event promises to be an excellent opportunity for the Philippine Aquatics swimmers to showcase their talent and dedication to the sport on the global stage. The entire nation eagerly awaits their outstanding performances, and with their hard work and determination, they are sure to make the Philippines proud.
